Today I ran 8 miles at Rock Cut with the Coyotes. Paced by Carol most of the course, it was a good solid and even paced run. Added to yesterday's early-morning 5 miler it should help build up my base for the Rockford 1/2 marathon in two weeks.
Thank you Coyotes for the nice run. Brad enjoy the wine.
This afternoon the lovely Ruth and I went to Runners Image. She needed some new shoes and picked out a pair of Adidas. I bought some Gu to use during the half. Taking in a Gu packet half way thru the Survivor 20k helped me quite a bit and restored my energy and endurance so I'm going to try it again. I'm sure I'll begin to tire by mile ten and the Gu will help.
I'll try to get one more long run in this week and then begin to taper.
Next Saturday is the Literacy Half Marathon. Key sponsors of the race are Runners Image and Carlyles Brewery. They run a great race and proceeds go to the Rockford Literacy Council. I like to help Steve and Mark by helping out during the race as a volunteer. It unfortunate how this quality race has been mistreated by the local running scene. The attendance has been down since the Rockford Road Runners and Rockford Marathon teamed up by scheduling the Marathon only one week after Literacy. To make matters worse this year the race is not considered a RRR Circuit Race. Not sire why but Literacy has been around 7-8 years and has raised a lot of $ for the Literacy Council. That cant be said for the Rockford Marathon despite what they claim in their advertising.
I hope the running community will support this fine race this year. Run both and make both races happy! Find out more about the Literacy race by calling Runners Image in downtown Rockford, IL.
